The Story Behind Knicely Honey

Matthew Knicely’s fascination with bees started when he was young, thanks to his grandpa’s neighbor who kept a few hives. “I always thought it was cool”, he said, “and eventually, I had to try it for myself”. What began as a hobby grew into something more. Eight years ago, he bought a farm, and Knicely Honey was born.

It remains a small-scale operation, the business has seen exciting growth, especially in the last year. Matthew mainly sells honey, with liquid and comb varieties being the most popular.

In addition to honey, Matthew also manages a greenhouse on the farm. He once thought about expanding into beeswax-based products like Chapstick, and he’s even tossed around the idea of making honey win. But for now, he is happy sticking with what he knows and loves. “There’s always more to learn about bees”.

Matthew’s favorite way to enjoy honey? “You can’t go wrong with fresh bread and a drizzle of honey”. He’s also a fan of swapping it in as a sugar substitute for baking.

For Matthew, beekeeping is more than just a business. It’s something he genuinely enjoys, and he’s excited to see where it takes him next.
