2026 Heirloom Tomato List
The 2026 Gardening Season is upon us again. We've been working over the past year to find even more heirloom varieties and sources for the store's selection. We are excited with a wide array of heirlooms coming in all sorts of colors. Please note that we will be brining in this assortment throughout the months of April and May. We are not deep in some varieties because this is the first year with them and we're not sure if they'd be popular. However, others like Old German are being grown extra heavy this year. We'll be posting daily or weekly about the various tomatoes at the shop, so stay tuned!
Abraham Lincoln VFNASt – 75 days. Dates back to 1923 – improved hybrid has fine flavor and vigorous growth habit with early maturity and disease resistance. Fruits are bright rd, globe-shaped, averaging 8 oz. but often weigh in more. One of America’s highest yielding tomatoes. Indeterminate.
Alice’s Dream - 75 days. A cross between an Indigo variety and Blue Gold. Meaty, juicy, 4 to 8 oz. fruits are loaded with antioxidants and anthocyanin. Beefsteak fruits start out dark green with dark purple striping and mature to a variation in colors including golden yellow with green and red stripes and finally to orange with red stripes. High yielding. Indeterminate
Amana Orange - 90 days. Heirloom variety takes its name from Amana, Iowa, and features large, up to 5” in diameter beefsteak-type, mild fruits of a distinctive orange color. Indeterminate.
Amish Gold Slicer - 80 Days. Beautiful 3 to 4" round slicer that's been a trial favorite year after year. Fruits are blemish free, very firm and have excellent flavor. Great for fresh eating and canning. Extremely productive. Indeterminate
Amish Paste - 74 days. An old Amish heirloom dating back to the turn of the century. Used for sauces for generations – there’s none better! Bright red, large for canning types, weight about 8 oz. and are very flavorful. Excellent for slicing fresh as fruits are not too acidic. Indeterminate.
Ananas Noire - 85 Days. Also known as Black Pineapple, Large, dark-purple fruits averaging up to 1 1/2lbs have a distinctive, streaked interior of pink, red, green, and yellow. Green-shouldered fruits deliver a complex hearty tomato taste that's both sweet and rich, with smoky and acidic undertones. Makes a great tomato sauce! Needs space, regular leaf plants are large and sprawling but earn their keep with heavy yields. Indeterminate.
Andiamo - 65 Days. A true San Marzano type, strong, vigorous plants produce heavy yields of bright red, 5" elongated fruits that are firm, meaty and loaded with sweet flavor and just the right amount of acid. Excellent for fresh eating, salsas and perfect for making pastes, sauces and for canning. Indeterminate
Apple Yellow Hybrid - (TYLCV) 110 Days. 2020 AAS Winner! Uniquely dimpled, bell-shaped fruits weigh up to 1 ounce and have a firm, meaty texture. With a Brix of 8, flavor is deliciously sweet, yet citrusy, with just the right balance of sugar/acid. Plants abundantly produce clusters of eye-catching, bright, lemon yellow, uniform fruits that grow up to 1-1/2". In trials, one plant produced nearly 1,000 fruits! Crack resistant and holds well on the vine. Tolerant to Tomato Mosaic Virus and Nematodes. Indeterminate.

Artisan Orange Jazz - 85 days. A large variety from the Artisan™ Series with outstanding flavor and just a hint of fresh peach sweetness! Unique, orange beefsteak-type, 10 to 16 oz. fruits are brushed with yellow stripes. Vigorous vines produce heavy yields. Indeterminate.
Artisan Pink Jazz - 85 days. Beautiful, large, pink beefsteak-type with yellow/gold stripes. Ribbed fruits have a very sweet, rich flavor and often weigh a pound or more each. Fruits are not prone to cat facing. A great variety for specialty markets. Very vigorous vines are relatively resistant to fungal leaf pathogens. Heavy yielder. Indeterminate.
Artisan Pink Tiger - 70 Days. Fruits are pink and striped with orange. Produced by a small breeder who concentrates on varieties specifically for small growers, and local and specialty markets. Combines excellent flavor with unique colors, shapes, sizes, and stripes. The Tigers are julienne types with a tropical flavor and can be allowed to ripen off the vine without comprising the flavor. Fruits weigh up to 1 oz. Vigorous vines produce continuously over a long growing size. Indeterminate.
Artisan purple Bumble Bee - 70 Days. Fruits are purple striped with green. Produced by a small breeder who concentrates on varieties specifically for small growers, and local and specialty markets. Aunt Ruby’s German Green – 80 days. Heirloom green beefsteak with a deliciously sweet flavor enhanced by a spicy undertone. Globe Shaped, -16 oz. fruits have light green, smooth skins at maturity and just a hint of yellow. Flesh is green blushed with pink, meaty, and flavorful. Indeterminate.
Belle of the Ball - (F) 70 Days. A true hybrid heirloom bred from parents that originated in France over 100 years ago and were reselected for their uniformity. Beautiful, slightly flat, round fruits average 6 to 8 ounces, are juicy and full of wonderful flavor that has the perfect balance of acid and sweetness. Great fresh or cooked. High yielder. Determinate.
Beefmaster VFN – 80 days. Hybrid strain beefsteak-type, with better disease resistance. Solid, meaty, bright red tomatoes weighing up to 2 lbs. Better yields with larger fruits. Tolerates cracking and splitting.
Beefsteak – 80 days. Very large, ribbed, bright scarlet fruits weigh up to 2 lbs. Excellent slicer. Indeterminate.
Better Boy VFNASt – 75 days. Plump, deep red fruits often weigh more than lb. Extremely flavorful, with juicy, firm flesh. Heavy foliage protects fruit from sunscald. Abundant producer and very adaptable. Excellent disease resistance.
Better Bush VFN – 68 days. Plants feature a strong central stem which supports its 48” height with very little need for staking. Big 4” fruits are sweet and meaty, with “real tomato” taste.
Big Beef VFFNTASt – 73 days. 1994 AAS Winner. A revolutionary combination of old-fashioned qualities and modern technology yields one of the best tomatoes. Colossal fruit size, exceptional yield, consistent uniformity and excellent disease resistance. Fruits are globe-shaped, smooth and weigh 9-16 oz.
Big Zac – 80 days. Bred by Minnie Zaccaria, a New Jersey gardener who produced the perfect cross between a pink and red beefsteak heirloom. The r4esult is an enormous 4—6 lb. fruit. Meaty, delicious, and true growing every time. indeterminate.
Black Brandywine - 90-100 days. A prolific yielder whose novel black, up to 1 lb. fruits are well-formed, oval shaped, with real tomato taste on potato leaf plants. Indeterminate.
Black From Tula - 80-85 days. A robust Russian heirloom and one of the largest of the dramatic blacks, with dark, greenish-black shoulders on dark, brownish-red, slightly flattened fruits that grow to 3 to 5" in diameter. Full flavored, chocolate-brown flesh with green gel is rich and satisfying. Performs well in dry conditions. Indeterminate.
Black Krim – 69 days. A most unusual novelty. Fruits are a dark, deep red (almost a shiny black) with heavy green shoulders. Interior is a deep, reddish-green color. Sweet & tasty. Matures extremely early. Indeterminate.
Black Opal - 70 Days. Bred from the popular heirloom Black Cherry and selected specifically for its improved growth habit, firmer texture and superior flavor. Masses of 1/2" round fruits are excellent for fresh eating, grilling or sauces and pastes. Extremely productive. Indeterminate.
Box Car Willie – 80 days. We predict this old timer might become your main crop variety. Prolific yields of smooth, reddish-orange fruits average 0-16 oz. With an old fashioned flavor you’ll remember from childhood, these high yielding, multi-use tomatoes will last throughout the season and are ideal for canning, freezing, or for home cooked meals. Brandywine – 90-100 days. Features one of the finest-flavored large tomatoes ever offered. Vigorous plants look like potato vines with good yields of large, firm, clear skinned, rose pink fruits up to 1 ½ lbs. Indeterminate.
Brandymaster Pink - 70-80 days. A modern strain of classic Brandywine. Pink fruits weigh 10 oz. while Red and yellow weigh up to 1 lb. All have firm, juicy flesh, Potato leaved plants are widely adaptable.

Brandywine (Potato Leaf -Type) - 90-100 days. Heirloom dating back to the 1880's. Potato leaf plants with good yields of extra-large, up to 1 1/2 lbs., clear-skinned, light rosy-pink fruit. Considered one of the world's best-flavored tomatoes. Exhibits moderate resistance to Late Blight. Indeterminate.
Brandywine Red - 90-100 days. Pennsylvania Amish heirloom dating to 1885. Delicious, scarlet-red fruits weigh up to 2 lbs. Potato leaf plants. Indeterminate.
Buffalosteak - (VF ToMV) 75 days. High-quality beefsteak-type fruits average 6 to 7 oz. and have a superior, robust old-fashioned tomato flavor. Bright red flesh is solid and meaty with very few seeds making it excellent for slicing to top sandwiches and burgers. Vigorous plants are very productive and quite disease-resistant. Indeterminate.
Burpee’s Big Boy - 78 days. Huge, crack-free beefsteak fruits sometimes weighing 1lb. or more. Flavor is superb, with a perfect sugar/acid balance. Fruits are smooth, blemish-free and uniformly round with thick meaty flesh. Ideal for slicing or frying.
Burpee’s Supersteak VFN – 80 days. Improved Beefsteak. Extra-large, smooth fruits with better appearance and meaty flesh – a versatile favorite.
Celebrity VFFNTASt – 70 days. Semi-spreading plants can be mulched and left unsupported, but perform best when grown on stakes. Standard for main crop hybrids where multiple disease resistance is required. Bright red, 8 oz. globe shaped fruits. Semi determinate.
Chef’s Choice Bi-color FTA – 75 days. 2019 regional southeast winner. Large globe shaped fruit weighs 10-12 oz. Heirloom type fruits are pale yellow brushed with deep red splashes on the blossom end and throughout the lemon-yellow flesh, vigorous, heavy yielders. Scab resistant.
Chef’s Choice Striped TA – 75 days. 6-7 oz. fruit. Globe shaped fruit have yellow skin that is covered with pink/red stripes and a slight red blush on the blossom end. Flesh is bright yellow. Scab resistant.
Cherokee Green - 72 days. A selection from the ever-popular heirloom Cherokee Purple and possibly one of the best green tomatoes you'll ever grow! Medium-sized, green fruit weighs 8 oz. or more each and show some yellowish-orange color on the blossom end when ripe. The flesh is full of bold, acidic, complex tomato flavor that green varieties are known for. Plants need to be staked for the best garden performance. Indeterminate.
Cherokee Purple – 80-90 days. A reliable producer of unusual, medium pink-purple fruits that appear brown in color and average 8-1oz. each. Fruits are round to oblate, with no cracking. Tolerant to mild drought as well as to common diseases. Indeterminate.
Costoluto Genovese - 90 Days. An excellent performer in both gardens and greenhouses. Plants are vigorous and produce ribbed, firm, fleshy fruits weighing up to 7 oz., with a delicious, sweet flavor. Indeterminate
Cream of the Crop Tropical Sunset - 60-70 days. Gorgeous, 1-1 1/2" ping-pong ball-sized fruits are gold with orange-pink striping and are almost translucent when ripe. The flavor is fruity and bright with an average Brix of 8. Holds in the ripe stage for a long time, providing a good shelf life. A real show-stopper and a trial favorite!
Cream of the Crop Beefy Purple hybrid - 75 days. This popular series is known for its cherry types that have superior quality, exceptional flavor and eye-catching/unusual combinations of skin and flesh coloration - these beefsteak versions deliver all that and are sure to be just as popular as their smaller counterparts on page 33. Delicious, 12 to 14 oz. fruits are very meaty, have few seeds, are juicy and have a nice sugar to acid balance. A great slicer and ideal for freezing and canning. The perfect choice for fresh markets and home gardeners. High yielders. Beefy Purple - Mahogany fruits are striped with green, are meatier and store better. Plants grow 24 to 30" tall. Determinate.
Cuore de Toro (Bull’s Heart) - 89 days. This Italian heirloom, a huge pink Oxheart type, weighs in at a gigantic 2 lbs. or more! Abundant 4" fruits on vigorous plants are a colorful pinkish-red with a wonderful, sweet flavor. Indeterminate.
Dinner Plate - 90-100 days. Large red fruits averaging 1-1/2 to 2 lbs. each are radially flattened and heart-shaped. Fine quality flesh has excellent flavor. Indeterminate.
Dixie Golden Giant - 85-100 days. An unusual heirloom, grown by the Amish since the 1930's. Huge, golden-yellow beefsteak tomatoes have a delicious, fruity flavor with few seeds. Fruits grow 1 to 2 lbs., mature earlier than similar varieties and may feature a pink blush on the blossom end. Very vigorous vines. Indeterminate.
Dr. Wyche’s Yellow - 80 days. Don't be fooled by the light-yellow color - there's nothing pale about the flavor of this rich-tasting beefsteak! Slightly flattened fruits, weighing up to 1 lb., have flesh that is almost porous, meaty and blemish free. Fruits mature to golden-orange. Indeterminate.
Early Girl VFF – 57 days. Bears early in the season and continues throughout the summer. One of the earliest slicing varieties, producing meaty, ripe, large, bright red, slightly flattened fruits, averaging 4-6 oz. Firm texture and blemish-resistant skin make this variety extremely desirable for its eye appeal as well as its flavor. Heavy yielder.
Fantastic VFT – 65 days. These tasty globe-shaped, scarlet red, medium sized fruits are almost crack-free. Heavy yields are excellent for canning.
Fire Fly Hybrid – (VFT) 80 Days. 2019 AAS Winner! Attractive round fruits are super sweet, pale white to pale yellow, less than 1" in diameter, and weigh about 1/2 oz each. Delicate, translucent skins add a mild-acidic flavor which enhances the juicy sweet flesh that explodes with flavor. Perfect for snacking, roasting, and in salads. Crack resistant. Indeterminate.
Garden Peach - 75 Days. This unique heirloom looks very much like a small peach - it even has slightly fuzzy skin! Small, 2 oz., light-yellow fruits have a delicate, distinctive flavor that's light, clean and a little bit fruit-like. A prolific producer of juicy fruits that have excellent keeping quality. Introduced to American gardens in 1862. Intermediate resistance to Late Blight. Indeterminate
Georgia Streak - 90 Days, Lovely bicolor fruits are rich gold, blushed with a delicate pink. As if that wasn't enough, the real surprise is inside - the firm flesh is streaked with red! Large, globe-shaped fruits weigh 1 to 2 lbs., and have a sweet, yet hearty flavor.

Giant Belgium - 82-90 Days. One of our most popular heirlooms. Huge, sweet fruits average 1 to 2 lbs. and have weighed in at nearly 5 lbs. Dark pink fruits have smooth blossom ends and a low-acid, mild flavor, so sweet that some growers use them to make wine. Solid meat and size means one slice per sandwich!

Golden Jubilee - (A) 72 Days. Mild flavor and low acidity make this one of the best varieties for tomato juice. Bright, golden-orange fruits, 2-1/2 to 3" in diameter average 6 to 7 oz. each and have meaty, thick walls. Fruits are solid, with few seeds. Medium-sized plants need staking, and produce high yields, making them ideal for home garden or fresh market. Indeterminate.
Goliath Sunny Hybrid FA – 70 days. Big juicy fruits are mild and sweet. 7-8 oz. fruits can be harvested when they first turn yellow or left on the vine until they reach a brilliant shade of gold. Lower acid than most reds. Vigorous plants continue setting fruit all season
Granny Smith VFASt – 72 days. Because Granny Smith is still green when fully ripe (pick when it shows a little light yellow color), it develops its full, sweet, natural flavor – a true tomato taste with a bit more tartness than red types. It’s 8-10 oz. size makes it unsurpassed when sliced for grilling or frying. Easily diced for salsas and Salsa Verde.
Great White Beefsteak – 80 days. A magnificent, almost perfect “white” tomato with low acidity and a few seeds. Good drought and crack tolerance. Fruits are protected under vigorous, heavy foliage, indeterminate.
Hillbilly – 85 days. This heirloom hails from the hills of WV where they know a superb tomato when they see one. Huge, mild flavored beefsteak type fruits weight 1-2 lbs. each and are colored a most unusual orange yellow, streaked and mottled in shades of red and pink. Indeterminate.
Indigo Blue Beauty - 80 Days. A cross between Beauty King and a blue tomato. Meaty, pink, 4 to 8 ounce, beefsteak fruits, with lovely dark blue-black shoulders. Holds well on the vine for extended periods. Sunburn and crack resistant. Very good flavor. Indeterminate
Indigo Blue Chocolate – 80 days. 1-2 oz. juicy fruits with a nice balance of sugar to acid ration. A saladette type – great in caprese salads. Best for flavor and shelf life. Pick when fruit begins to show signs of turning color and allow to ripen indoors. Crack resistant. Plants may show some purple shading.
Jelly Bean – 72 days. Charming, grape-like fruits, weighing less than 1 oz. each are aptly named for their bite-sized sweetness and intense, red color. Heavy clusters of up to 30 fruits each mature early on plants that have good disease resistance. Fruit quality holds up well during shipping. Indeterminate.
Jetsetter Hybrid - (VFFNTA GLS) 64 Days. Think Jet Star is the best fresh market variety? This one's earlier, with better disease resistance! Jetsetter sacrifices nothing for its early maturity - delivers great "real tomato" flavor in large 8 oz. fruits that are smooth, juicy, flattened globes, with consistently huge yields and good disease resistance. Kellogg’s Breakfast - 80-85 Days. Lovely, pale-orange fruits are solid and meaty throughout, packed with mild, superb-tasting flesh. A long-season producer of large, beefsteak-type fruits, up to 16 oz., with solid centers that have just a few seeds at the edges. Very desirable! Indeterminate
Kentucky Beefsteak - 115 Days. An old heirloom that hails from the hills of its namesake, eastern Kentucky. Like most beefsteaks, the fruits are enormous, often weighing as much as 2 lbs. Unlike many beefsteaks though, the fruits lack much of the roughness usually associated with heirloom beefsteak-types. Fruits are actually quite attractive - globe to oval-shaped, and a beautiful deep orange in color. Indeterminate
Lemon Boy VFNASt – 72 days. Lemon yellow, not golden, in color. Highly adaptable plants yield large, deep oblate fruits, averaging 6-7 oz. and about 3 ½” across. Out-yields other golden tomatoes. Adds inviting color to salads.
Lemon Sugar - (VF ToMV) 120 days. Golden yellow, ½ oz. fruits grow up to 1" in diameter and are deliciously sweet with a Brix of 7. Round fruits grow in attractive, uniform trusses that are approx. 8 to 10" long with an average of 8 to 15 fruits each. Strong, vigorous plants produce heavy yields of high quality cherries that have excellent crack tolerance and a long shelf life. Intermediate resistance to Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus, Bacterial Speck and Nematodes. Indeterminate.
Lillian’s Yellow Heirloom - 95-98 Days. Magnificent, clear-yellow, globe-shaped fruits of the beefsteak-type, weighing up to 16 oz. each. Mild flesh is so rich in flavor, it actually has a creamy taste on the tongue. Vigorous, potato-leaved plants are unique in such a large-fruited, yellow variety, and provide cover for heavy yields. Local heirloom from Manchester, Tennessee. Indeterminate
Maiden’s Gold - 60-75 days. This gem comes from Ted Maiden of LaFollette, TN, who grew it and saved seeds his father, Ernest Maiden, gave to him in 1964. Ernest grew it in his own garden in Bristol, VA, after receiving seeds from his father, Reverend Frank Maiden of Saltville, VA prior to 1956. In 2009 Ted rediscovered seeds he had grown in 1987 stored in a box of photos that was packed away while he was serving in the Air Force. Attractive, dark orange, beefsteak-type fruits average 8 to 10 oz. each, with some weighing up to 1 lb.! Globe-shaped fruits are firm, meaty and juicy with a delicious, mild favor. Great for fresh eating, canning and making pastes and sauces. High yielding. Indeterminate
Mortgage Lifter VFN – 85 days. Special strain with extra large smooth, uniform fruits weighing 2 lbs. or more. Disease resistant. Indeterminate.
Moutain Pride – 70 days. Deep oblate 6 oz. fruits are crack resistant, green-shouldered and jointed. Plats are vigorous and uniform. Determinate. A favorite of truck farmers.
Mushroom Basket - 75 days. Eye-catching beauties, these 8 to 16 ounce watermelon-pink tomatoes will grab lots of attention in the garden. Uniquely pleated fruits are firm, have few seeds and a deliciously sweet flavor. No matter how you slice it, its terrific in any dish. Heavy yielder. Indeterminate
Mr. Stripey – 80 days. Large fruits, yellow with pinkish-red stripes. Quite mild, low acid, with few seeds. A Virginia favorite. Indeterminate.
Oaxacan Jewel - 80 days. Striking orange/red bicolor heirlooms have marbled, meaty flesh, weigh 8 to 12 oz. and can sometimes weigh as much as a pound! Flat to slightly pointed, ribbed fruits are deliciously sweet with a nice acid to sugar ratio - a very old-fashioned flavor that's perfect for fresh eating, cooking, juicing and canning. Old German - 75 Days. An heirloom originally grown by the Mennonite community in Virginia and one of the best-ever varieties for slicing. Huge fruits have an unusual boat shape and weigh 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. each. Indeterminate.
Omar’s Lebanese - 80 Days. Monster tomatoes, 1 to 2 lbs., from a Lebanese hill town - luscious and incredible! Delicious 5" pink fruits are huge, meaty and somewhat irregularly shaped, rich, sweet and juicy. A favorite of American tomato aficionados because of its excellent yield and superb flavor. High yielder. Indeterminate.
Orange Oxheart - 80 Days. Strong vines that yield numerous large, 3 inch, vibrant golden-orange, oxheart-shaped fruits. Meaty, with a delicious, well-balanced flavor and tremendous eye appeal. Indeterminate.
Perfectly Pink - (FN) 95 days. The maturity is long, but certainly worth the wait! The reward for your patience? Large, tasty summer treats. Attractive, beefsteak-type fruits are juicy, super sweet and weigh in at one pound or more, making it a perfect one slicer! Potato leaf plants produce good yields. Indeterminate.
Persimmon - 80 Day. Great flavor and eye appeal! Large, plump, golden-orange fruits average 1 to 2 lbs. - meaty, with luscious flavor and only a few seeds. You can expect these vigorous plants to produce good yields. Indeterminate
